Bird Flu October 2007
World Health Organization reports that recent reports of a 24-year old pregnant woman who died from H5N1 bird-flu virus and passed it on to her unborn fetus does not prove that the disease can be transmitted from human to human. The mother and unborn baby functioned as one body.
Nevertheless, great care must be taken when handling suspect dead birds as well as blood and feces from infected persons. Latest report show that outbreaks in Vietnam, China and Indonesia.
There is currently a ban on the importation of birds and bird products from H5N1-affected countries.
